ABOUT US

At our laboratory, we conduct research on water environments such as rivers and lakes, with a particular focus on issues related to human health. In particular, we seek to clarify why pathogenic microorganisms persist in aquatic environments, how they spread, and what factors naturally suppress them, with the goal of contributing to safer recreational water use and more effective sanitary management of water environments. Based on fieldwork in aquatic environments in Japan and abroad, we integrate a wide range of approaches, including genetic analysis, mathematical modeling, and machine learning, to elucidate the principles governing the persistence, spread, and control of environmental pathogens.
We always welcome students and postdoc researchers (PDs) who are interested in our research topics. If you need more information, please feel free to contact us.
